Adelene J. Turner Lierle Mitchell, 97, of Quincy, died at 7:50 p.m. Thursday, September 21, 2017 at her home.
Born September 16, 1920, in Quincy, Illinois, Adelene was a daughter of Ebenezer and Hattie Kerksieck Turner. She married C. Merle Lierle in Liberty Christian Church on October 15, 1955. he preceded her in death on February 3, 1988. She then married Martin "Boots" Mitchell on June 27, 1992 at Salem Evangelical United Church of Christ in Quincy. He preceded her in death on November 11, 2002.
Mrs. Mitchell graduated from Quincy High School in 1938 and Gem City Business College in 1939. She was a member of Salem Evangelical United Church of Christ, Women's City Club, American Legion Auxiliary, the Red Hat Society, and a 50 year member of Alpha Chapter, O.E.S., and the White Shrine of Jerusalem.
Adelene was employed in the local branch of Universal C.I.T. Credit Corp. for 25 years and after retiring from there was employed a few years at Geise Buick in Quincy.
Survivors include a nephew, Robert Mast , Quincy; great nieces, Deborah Walker and her husband Andy, Macomb, and Missy Meyer and her husband Kirsten, Quincy; great nephews, Steve Mast, Quincy, Bryan Mast and his wife Ande, Milan, and Greg Mast, Quincy; six great, great nephews and one great, great niece; and two cousins, Helen Harvey Robison and her husband Dean, Rock Island, and William Gordon Harvey and his wife Julia, Peoria, AZ.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, her parents, a sister, Evelyn Mast Simmons, and two nephews, Ralph and Ronald Mast.
Graveside service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 26 at the Quincy Memorial Park Mausoleum.
