Billy Dean Roberts, 90, of Colchester, IL (formerly of Rushville and Huntsville/Augusta areas), died at 5:19 p.m. on Wed, Feb 1, 2017 at McDonough District Hospital in Macomb, IL.  He was born to Willis & Fern (Butcher) Roberts in rural Industry, IL on Nov 21, 1926.  They preceded him in death.  Also preceding him in death was a sister, Betty Toland of Industry; a brother, Robert Roberts of Rushville; a sister, Patricia Thompson of Normal and a sister, Joan Terrell of Springfield.

He is survived by one brother, Steven Roberts of Dallas City, IL.

On Apr 16, 1949, he married Alice Viola Taylor.  She preceded him in death on Feb 21, 1969.  Together, they have 4 children:  Michael Alan of Houston, TX;  Marla Anet (Ambrogio) Oliveri of Augusta, IL;  Mark Andrew of Colorado Springs, CO & Marcia “Marcy” Ann (Brad) Hopping, of Plymouth, IL, all surviving.

He married Betty Sue (Twaddle) Roberts on Feb 27, 1970.  She preceded him in death on Dec 25, 2000.    Surviving are step children:  Linda (Bob) Bradshaw, Plymouth, IL;  David (Jenny) Roberts, Fort Payne, AL;  Jim (Ronda) Roberts, Dittmer, MO;  Bill (Lisa) Roberts of Rushville, IL and Richard (Christie) Roberts of Augusta, IL.

He married Vivian Alleyne (Norris) Parker on June 3, 2006.   She survives, along with step-children:  James (Marla) Parker of Colchester, IL;  David Parker, of Tennessee, IL; Karen (Johnny) Henson of Augusta, IL;  Michael (Barb) Parker of Tennessee, IL;  and Lisa (Jerry) Shepler of Colchester, IL.

Also surviving is a sister-in-law, Betty Roberts of Rushville, IL; sister-in-law, Daretta (Taylor-Workman) Bingham of Beardstown, IL;  brother-in-law, John Twaddle of Augusta, IL;  sister-in-law, Bette Twaddle of Carthage, IL; and brother-in-law, Elvie Norris of Astoria, IL. 

Grandchildren include:  Chris (Melissa) Rebman of Lake Linden, MI; Lacey & Heather Alexander of Laprairie, IL; Derek (Christina) Roberts of Bowen, IL;  Ashley Jones of Keokuk, IA;  Darren (Amanda) Roberts, Whiteman Airforce Base, MO;  Patrick Roberts of Keokuk, IA; and Cecilia Roberts of Colorado Springs, CO.  He also leaves many great-grandchildren, as well as many step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren, 1 step-great-great grandson and numerous nieces and nephews.

Billy was a member of the Huntsville United Methodist church.  He was a member of Augusta Lions club, serving many leadership roles, including local President.  He was a member of the former Huntsville Masonic Lodge and presently a member of Camden Lodge 0648 AF&AM.  He was also a member of the Augusta Senior Citizens.

Billy was a farmer.  He loved raising cattle, having some he could wrap his arms around.   He worked for Burlington Road Builders and was a state snow bird for Schuyler County.  He also worked for Weinberg King state park and local farmers, including his good friend, Bob Myers of Augusta.

Billy loved helping his neighbors. When he lived in Huntsville, he tilled many gardens and enjoyed mowing yards.  He made many trips to the Schuyler County Help Center.  One of the things he enjoyed doing for others was donating blood.   Over his life time, he proudly gave over 12 gallons of blood. 

Billy’s favorite hobby, besides listening to country music, was watching the Chicago Cubs – and to see them win the World Series.  In earlier years, he loved to hunt and fish, and entertained those around him with his stories.

Funeral services with Masonic Rites conducted by Camden Lodge # 0648 AF & AM will be held at 2 pm Sat, Feb 4, 2017 at Hamilton Funeral Home in Augusta, IL, by Rev. Dr. David Bigley.  Visitation will be held from 12:00 noon until time of services. Burial will be in Scott’s cemetery near Plymouth, IL. Memorials may be made to the Augusta Lions Club Children’s Park Project.
