Garrett Dean Sprenger, 24, of Camp Point, died at 3:20 am Monday, September 4, 2017, at Blessing Hospital, Quincy IL.  Born, May 27, 1993, in Quincy, IL, with his twin sister (Taylor), Garrett was the son of Denton and Lori Sprenger.  Garrett graduated from Central High School in 2011, from Northwest Iowa Community College in 2013 (Associate of Applied Science, Powerline Technology); and from WIU in 2016 (Bachelors of Science Agriculture).  Garrett completed the JWCC Truck Driver Training Program in 2013 and earned his CDL. 

Garrett served in the Illinois National Guard and was employed as a truck driver for DOT Foods, having been hired as their youngest driver.  He was an accomplished mechanic and welder and worked tirelessly with joy pursuing his true passion—farming.

Survivors include his mother, Lori Sprenger, Camp Point; his father, Denton Sprenger (Amy), Coatsburg; two sisters, Lauren Oldenburg (Andy), Columbia, MO, and Taylor Cain (Robert), Virginia Beach, VA; his fiancé, Meredith Becks, Quincy; two step sisters, Brittney Foster, (Greg), and April Richmiller; his maternal grandparents, Freddie and Norma Janssen, Coatsburg; his maternal great grandmother, Eileen McDowell, Clayton, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Harold and Juanita Sprenger; an uncle, Bradley Dean Janssen; his maternal great grandfather, Forrest McDowell, his great uncle, Eugene McDowell, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 am, Saturday, September 9 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church (Coatsburg) by Rev. Patricia Reep.  Burial with military honors will follow at Graymount Cemetery in Coatsburg.  Visitation will be held Friday evening from 4-8 pm at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Coatsburg. 

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Peter’s Lutheran Church (Coatsburg), Graymount Cemetery, Camp Callahan, or the donor’s choice.  Online condolences may be left at www.hamiltonfuneralhomes.net
