Harold Earl Mason, 80, of rural Clayton, died at 12:46 p.m. Thursday, January 18, 2018 at Blessing Hospital in Quincy.

Born January 8, 1938, in Kellerville, Earl was a son of Albert and Veda Mowen Mason. He married Connie L. Barger on October 31, 1959, in Quincy, IL. She survives.

Earl was employed as a farmer and also worked at Siloam Springs State Park for 33 1/3 years retiring on January 1, 2000. He enjoyed farming, loved hunting anything you could eat, and enjoyed visiting with his many friends. He was a member of Spring Valley Independent Church.

Survivors in addition to his wife is his son, Gary Mason (Teresa); his granddaughter, Trinity Mason (Andrew Camacho); his great granddaughter, Evelyn Mason; his sister, Mildred Hughes (Duane); a niece, Melissa Hughes; a brother in law, Jim Barger (Sharon); two sisters in law, Cheryl Barger and Dorothy Koehler; a special friend, Barb Cerda; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Harold Gene Mason; a brother in infancy, Junior Mason; and three brothers in law, John and Jerry Barger, and Bert Koehler.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, January 21 at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Clayton by ministers Larry Flint and Roger Sutton. Burial will follow at Spring Valley Hazelwood Cemetery, Clayton.

Visitation will be held Saturday afternoon from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Clayton.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Spring Valley Hazelwood Cemetery.
