Joan Tournear, 87, of Quincy, formerly of Camp Point, died at 12:38 a.m. Monday, January 30, 2017 at Good Samaritan Home in Quincy.
Born February 20, 1929, in Galesburg, Joan was a daughter of George and Emma Garthaus Hunsaker. She married Lowell Wayne Tournear on January 10, 1948, in Quincy. He preceded her in death on November 13, 2009.
Joan attended St. John's School and Quincy Notre Dame. She was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church in Quincy. She enjoyed spending time with her family, going to "the boat", crocheting, keeping up with her current events on Fox News, and was an avid Chicago Cubs fan.
She was employed at Miller Hardware and Arrowhead Golf Course Pro Shop in Camp Point, and was the breakfast hostess at The Hampton Inn in Quincy retiring at the age of 82.
Surviving are three sons, Terry Tournear, Larry Tournear (Dorothy), Quincy, and Randall Tournear (Dorothy) Ocala, FL.; three daughters, Cathy Wagner (Dennis) Camp Point, Cindy Frericks (Gary) Quincy, and Becky Eling (Tim) Quincy; nine grandchildren, Dr. Denny Wagner (Lindsey), Adam Wagner (Amanda), Ashli Hoover (Jon), Brady Frericks (fiance' Kaitlin Quinn), Cory Eling (Megan), Kelsey Ott (Joseph), Connor Eling, Kim Obert (Chris) and Anna Loupe (Aaron); twelve great grandchildren, Alyvia Wagner, Haylee Wagner, Emily Wagner, Audyn Wagner, Ashdyn Wagner, Lyla Wagner, and Logyn Wagner, August Ott, Christopher Obert, Conner Obert, Abigail Loupe, Avery Loupe, and a great grandson due in May; a sister, Barbara Kempker (Robert), Ft. Madison, IA.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; a granddaughter, Stephanie Wagner; and a brother, Orville Hunsaker.
Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. at Blessed Sacrament Church in Quincy by Monsignor Michael Kuse. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Camp Point.
Visitation will be held Wednesday evening from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Lummis Hamilton Funeral Home in Camp Point and Thursday afternoon from 1:00 p.m. until the time of services at Blessed Sacrament Church in Quincy.
