     John W. Goudschaal, 87, of the Illinois Veterans Home,  (formerly of Quincy and Columbus) died  at 1:50 a.m. Monday, October 23, 2017 at the home.
     Born May 24, 1930, in Adams County, John was a son of John and Edna Veach Goudschaal. He married Laurita House on October 4, 1953, in Quincy. She preceded him in death on August 22, 2008.
     John was employed at D and R Countertop, Brockshmidt Plumbing and Heating, and the Adams County Water District. He was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Coatsburg. John served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict.
     Surviving is his son, John Leslie Goudschaal (Laura), Quincy; two grandchildren, Johnna Joan Goudschaal and Garrett W. Maas (Kelseigh), both of Quincy; and his great granddaughter, Leighnkon Mass, Quincy.
     He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother; Richard Goudschaal; and his sister, Margaret Kerker.
     Funeral services will be held Thursday morning at 10:00 a.m. at the St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Coatsburg by Pastor Patricia Reep. Burial with military honors will follow at Golden Memorial Gardens, Golden.
     Visitation will be held Wednesday evening from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Lummis Hamilton Funeral Home in Camp Point.
     Memorials may be made to St. Peter's Lutheran Church.
