Paul Edward “Slick” Ogle, 88, of Augusta, Illinois died at 5:50 pm Sunday August 20, 2017 at Bickford Cottage in Macomb, IL.
He was born on August 12, 1929 in Augusta, IL to Morris and Florine Hornecker Ogle. He was first married to Phyllis Thoreson on March 12, 1951 in Harrison AK. He later married Nancy Blunt in 1978 in Rock Island, IL.
Slick was a 1947 graduate of Augusta High School. He was a truck driver and was employed as mechanic and school bus driver for Southeastern School District from 1990 until his retirement in 2005. He was an avid race car fan and in his younger years was well known for his stock car racing talent in the surrounding area, racing car # 58 which was the phone number of the Conoco gas station he operated in Augusta at the time. He ran undefeated one year which he was proud to have accomplished. He proudly served his country in Korea with the United States Army from 1951 to 1953.
He is survived by 2 daughters, Beverly (Mike) Drake of Macomb, IL and Paula (Joe) Icenogle of Colchester, IL, a daughter-in-law, Annetta Ogle of Colchester, IL, grandchildren, Chad Passley, Melissa (Dave) Holbek, Jared Passley, Danielle (David Prather) Agans, Shanna Orris, Michael Ogle, Deborah (Jeremiah) Hollars, Jacob, Josh, J.P. and Jayden Icenogle, Nathan (Laura) Hoke, Lissa (Seth Ritter) Hoke, great grandchildren, Lucas and Matthew Holbek, Shelby Lung, Taylor Lung, Nic Agans, Courtney Shouse, Jeff and Norissa Agans, Brody Orris, Jordan Ogle, Caysen and Dylan Hollars, Kaylyn Ritter, Darion Cleland and Audrina Hoke, great-great grandchildren, Dawson Lung, Hoyt Shouse, Jessie and Aaron Agans and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son, Mike Ogle and a sister, Anna Marie Cucchiaro.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 am Saturday August 26, 2017 at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Augusta by Rev. Tom Mehaffy. Burial with Military Honors will be at Woodlawn cemetery in Augusta. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 Friday at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Augusta. Memorials may be made to Augusta Lions Club Children’s Park Project.
