J. Virginia Wilkey, 87, of Good Samaritan Home, formerly of rural Liberty, died at 1:56 p.m. Friday, February 3, 2017 at the home in Quincy.
Born August 8, 1929, in Quincy, Virginia was a daughter of Louis and Joy Jordan Thompson. She married Carl F. Wilkey April 3, 1949, in Quincy. He preceded her in death on April 5, 1995.
Virginia cleaned homes for people in the Quincy area for many years. She graduated from Mendon Township High in 1947 and attended Quincy Beauty Academy, graduating in June of 1948 as the class salutatorian. She was a member of the Columbus Christian Church.
Survivors include her son, Lloyd (Marjorie) Wilkey, Evergreen Park, IL; her daughter, Laura (Ricardo Bogaert) Wilkey, Denver, CO.; four grandchildren, Mark Wilkey, Evergreen Park, IL., Carolyn (Cory) Slightom, Fillmore, IL., Janeen Wilkey, Yuma, AZ., and Lisa Wilkey, Evergreen Park, IL.; one great grandchild due March 2, 2017; and her brother, C. Royce Thompson, Ursa, IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and a brother, James Thompson.
Funeral Services will be held Monday morning at 10:00 a.m. at the Lummis-Hamilton Funeral Home in Camp Point by Dr. John Schafer. Private family burial will follow at Quincy Memorial Park.
Visitation will be held Sunday afternoon from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at the Lummis Hamilton Funeral Home in Camp Point.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Liberty Education Foundation.
