Phillip "P.J." Johnson, 63, of Clayton, died at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 6, 2018, at his home in Clayton.
Born August 11, 1954, in Quincy, Phil was a son of Benjamin and Betty Theresa Johnson. He married Dorinda Inman; she preceded him in death on July 19, 2014.
Phil was employed with McClain Incorporated for 24 years.
He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, epic street fighting, collecting "treasures", golfing, new release movies on Tuesday mornings and ruining them for everyone by Tuesday night, making awkward situations, late nights, telling stories, fishing, hunting, cooking, bear hugs, belly bumps, and making people laugh, but above all he enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Phil was always a huge presence no matter the situation and his reputation followed him throughout life.
Survivors include four daughters, Meagan Johnson, Jamie Johnson (Gage Wellman), Heather (Brent) Bockenfeld, and Alison (Steve) Clark; three sons, Jason (Dacia) Johnson, Joshua Johnson, and Shawn (Christy) Stewart; nine grandchildren, Alize', Venus, and Vincent Hernandez, Della and Brix Bockenfeld, Dalton Newman and Bella Clark, Madison and Layla Stewart; three sisters, Terry Johnson, Debbie (Bill) Rummenie, Connie White; a brother-in-law, Jim Wells; three nephews, Jeremy Rummenie, Anthony (Carrie) and Jessie Wells, and one niece, Desiree (Brandon) Epping.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a brother, Ben Johnson, and a sister, Cindy Wells.
Phil was cremated. Private family services will be held at a later date.
