Phyllis June Smith, 81, of Plymouth, IL died at 5:30 am Tuesday October 8, 2019 at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL.
She was born on June 17, 1938 in Plymouth, IL and was lovingly raised by her aunt and uncle, Ruby and Grant Douglas. She married Richard J. “Dick” Smith on July 16, 1955 in Keokuk, IA. He preceded her in death on August 16, 2018.
Phyllis attended Plymouth schools. She served as the Plymouth Village Clerk for many years and co-owned and operated the Feed Bag restaurant in Plymouth. She was an active member of the Old Settler’s committee for many years. She enjoyed bowling, golfing and going to the area casinos, but her most cherished time was being with her family.
She is survived by 4 children; Rich Smith, Plymouth, IL, Randy(Cindy) Smith, Plymouth, IL, Russ (Amy) Smith, Lakeville, MN, Rachelle (Harry) Douglas, Plymouth, IL. 8 grandchildren: Melissa (Richard) Peterson Tennessee, IL, Debbie (David) Ellis Plymouth, IL, Jake Douglas Bowen, IL, Matt Douglas Quincy, IL, Crayton Smith Minneapolis, MN, Perry (Mariah) Smith Maple Grove, MN, Randallynn (Dallas) Smith, Steilacoom, WA and Gracyn Smith Andover, MN.12 great grandchildren: Katie (Austin) Moon Colchester, IL, Tristen Bevard, Indianapolis, IN, Racheal Smith Tennessee, IL, Colby Ellis Plymouth ,IL, Elsa Douglas , Ava Douglas and Nora Douglas all of Seneca IL, Ben Peterson Tennessee, IL, Isabella Bates Andover, MN, Theo Peterson Tennessee, IL, Gus Peterson Tennessee, IL and Ella Smith Maple Grove, MN. 2 sisters, Betty Nooner of Edina, MN, Opal Muir of Hillsboro, OR, 1 brother-in-law, Fred Smith of Fullerton, CA, 2 sisters-in law, Peggy (Jim) O’Brien and Marybeth (Roger) Long both of Springfield, IL and numerous nieces and nephews.
Along with her husband Dick, she was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Frank Marr and a sister, Theon Hoener
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Saturday October 12, 2019 at the Plymouth Circle Community Center (former Plymouth Methodist Church) in Plymouth, IL with Elder Randy Smith and Pastor Jim Clayton officiating. Burial will be in Rosemont Cemetery in Plymouth, IL. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 pm Friday at the Plymouth Circle Community Center. Memorials may be made to Plymouth Old Settlers.
