Robert Ward "Bob" Hunsaker, 86, of Camp Point, died at 9:52 a.m. Friday, February 9, 2018 at his home.
   Born August 16, 1931, in Quincy, Bob was a son of Emery and Selma E. Sahland Hunsaker. He married Ramona Husemann April 1, 1951, at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Clayton. She survives.
     Robert was a 1949 graduate of Maplewood High School in Camp Point. He enjoyed playing basketball there for four years. His first job was as a farmhand for Lyle Metheringham for six months. His next position was driving a truck, first for Lloyd Pickenpaugh for six months, then for Russell Johnson for two years. Robert served in the U.S. Navy during Korea from January 15, 1951 to December 13, 1954, serving on the LSD Shadwell stationed at Norfolk, Virginia. After the service, he worked for Hunsaker Plumbing for nine months, then drove for DeWitt Trucking for four years. His next position was working at the G & H Hatchery for seven years, then he worked as a rate clerk for Quincy Storage & Transfer for eighteen months. In March 1968, Robert started his career as a rural carrier for the U.S. Post Office in Camp Point. He retired after thirty years of service in July 1998. After retirement, he held five more part time positions. Robert worked at Smugglers Cove in Fort Myers, Florida and then as a security officer at Indian Creek Park for eleven winters. Summer jobs included driving for Gully Transportation and Lee Fertilizer, and as a tender driver for CROP Production. He retired from ALL of his jobs at age 80! He was proud to say he was never laid off or fired from any job.
Robert enjoyed attending First Christian Church, where he held various positions over the years. He was a Sunday School Superintendent, Sunday School Teacher, Deacon, Elder, and Chairman of the Board. He was also a past president of the Lions Club of Camp Point.
   Survivors in addition to his wife, Ramona, are a son, Raymond John (Cyndi) Hunsaker; a daughter, Virginia "Ginny" Ruth (Michael) Gully; six grandchildren, Michele Lea (Tom) Pickett, Brooke LeAnn Hunsaker, BreAnn Louise (T.J.) Neisen, Robert "Rob" William Gully, Joshua John (Adriana) Hunsaker, Brandon Michael (Alaina) Gully; seven great grandchildren, Mariah Michele Hunsaker, Hannah Mae Pickett, Thomas Lee Pickett Jr., Tanner Joseph Neisen, Jersey Lynn Neisen, Isabel Grace Gully, and Timothy Robert Gully; his brother, Darryl Gene (Anne) Hunsaker; and many nieces and nephews.
   In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by one son, William Emery Hunsaker, who passed on September 2, 2007.
   Funeral Services will be held Saturday (February 17, 2018) at 11:00 a.m. at the First Christian Church in Camp Point by Jan and Rick Fordyce. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Camp Point.
   Visitation will be held Saturday morning from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services at the First Christian Church in Camp Point.
