Mary Jo Baccus

Mary Jo Baccus, 73, of Camp Point, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 2, 2021 in her home. She was born February 14, 1948, in Manchester, Iowa, the daughter of Howard and Eva Bishop. She married the love of her life, Jack Baccus, on April 19, 1969. He survives.

First and foremost, Mary Jo was a dedicated mother. She treasured her children and embraced every moment with them. She especially loved her role as Meme. She always cherished her rides with Jack in the countryside, with no place in particular to go. She loved people, always smiling and never saying a bad word about anyone or anything. She will always be remembered for her kindness, her smile, and her wonderful hugs.

For many years, Mary Jo worked at LeMair-Mulock-Condon Insurance. She was a loyal employee and cherished not only her co-workers, but also their children and families.

Mary Jo is survived by her beloved husband, Jack, cherished children, and their spouses, John and Ariel Baccus from McCallsburg, IA and Jenny and Jason Hetzler from Camp Point, IL, and the ones that call her Meme, Heavenly Reis (Joseph), Jacob Hetzler, and Karly, Nate, and Anna Peters. Also surviving are her best friend and sister, Marcia Kirby (Dennis) of Edgewood, IA, and several nieces and nephews that she loved like her own.

She was preceded in death by the ones she learned so much from, her parents.

Please join us in celebrating her life on Monday, November 8, 2021, at the Lummis-Hamilton Funeral Home in Camp Point, IL, from 4:00-6:00 PM or on Friday, November 12, 2021, at Saylorville Event Center in Des Moines, Iowa, from 5:00-7:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial contribution may be made in her name to Blessing Foundation for Hospice.
