William J." Bill" Dinkheller, 69, of Quincy, died at 3:28 p.m. Friday, October 8, 2021, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy.
Born November 15, 1951, in Quincy, Bill was a son of Richard G. and Viola R. Genenbacher Dinkheller. He married Mary Thompson on March 31, 1973, in Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church. She preceded him in death on November 22, 2014.
Bill was a graduate of Quincy Senior High School. He worked as a fireman retiring as Assistant Fire Chief with Tri-Township Fire Protection District as well as the Adams County Arson Investigator.
Bill loved to travel with family and friends visiting nearly all of the 48 continental states. He always insisted on driving and visited numerous casinos throughout his adventures. His greatest joy came at home, being with his family, especially his grandchildren, and always made sure he had a drink with his boys.
Surviving are his three sons, Travis (Kim) Dinkheller, Quincy and their son Cooper, Troy (Ashleigh) Dinkheller, Edwardsville, IL. and their children, Brayden and Aleigha, and Cory (Ann) Dinkheller, O'Fallon, MO., and their children, Addison and Clayton; his brother, Paul Dinkheller, Quincy; brothers and sisters in law; his very special friends who Bill considered family, Bob (LeAnn) Garkie, Quincy, and Denny Clarke, Huntsville, AL.; several nieces and nephews; and his favorite niece, you know who you are.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and his father and mother-in-law, Walter and Nureta Thompson.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 10:00 a.m. at the O'Donnell Cookson Life Celebration Home, 1435 State, Quincy, by Rev. Sheri Renner. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Quincy.
Visitation will be held Thursday from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the O'Donnell Cookson Life Celebration Home.
Memorials in Bill's name may be made to the Quincy Public School Foundation.
